If you like authentic creamy ice cream this is the place for you. I got a baby sized "White House " for $1.50. It was very good. Samples provided upon request. 3 ladies working which provided quick service. Tables to dine in or you can visit Sherwood Park which is right up the hill.

We were in the area visiting Lackawanna State Park. On a super hot day of hiking we decided to google ice cream in the area which brought us to Mannings. I got the Raspberry chocolate truffle - the absolute best ice cream I have ever eaten. Loved seeing the pictures and reading the story of the history and the process of the this family run business. We drive RT 81 a few times a year and we will be getting off the exit to have a break and get a cone.

Manning has been around since at least I was very little. This ice cream is very good and this store is family owned. I have had the opportunity to come here many times and explore the various flavors available. I am so grateful that our stopped here after meets to ensure we got a taste of Manning ice cream! I would highly recommend sampling it if you are in the region.

I make a point of stopping at Manning every time I'm in Scranton. The homemade ice cream has been consistently fresh and free of ice crystals and grit. Every flavor I've tried is excellent, and there is always a large variety including many creative ingredient combinations. The staff are friendly and accommodating, always willing to let someone try a sample (this is a double edged sword when the line is long). There is one huge drawback: they only accept cash, which to me is just ridiculous. Am I really expected to keep a wad of cash in my pocket for the 5% of businesses that don't accept cards? Last I checked, the ATM next door applies a $2.00 surcharge . Another drawback is very long lines in the summer - but if you still eat ice cream in the winter like me, you're in and out. Negatives aside, the ice cream is consistently excellent and that's what's really important.
